V3

The head fan has been a personal project to cool the head when it feels too hot from overworking or having a headache. Conventional solutions are to use an ice pack to cool the head. They are usually very bulky, too cold, and do not last long enough to cool the face.

I created multiple variants of this idea. From fans directly on the forehead to position far away by mounting on a hat. I constructed custom electronics to boost a 3.7V Lipo battery to output 12V DC to the fan system. An Attiny85 microcontroller was also added to allow for more fan control with different levels of pulses and intensity.

This project has been worked on every few months for a few years. The most up-to-date version has a direct fan on the head for focused cooling. Fans placed further away were effective but would start to dry the eyes. The newest version also has a unique 3D-printed TPU material that is soft and comfortable on the forehead.

V4 UPCOMING

V4 Will have 2 fan systems with a custom boost regulator to 12V. It can also be controlled by an attiny85 for speed control.
