Cinch

The clothing cinch is a clamp mechanism that can hold plastic parts in place without damaging the clothing or being a permanent solution like sewing, melting, or taping.

This semi-permanent solution allows easy placement in any location and is an excellent concept for creating wearable interfaces and intelligent clothing.

The small wearable in the images is a simple LED circuit with a switch showing proof of concept. The attachment method is a clipping mechanism, but more complex attachment methods can be conceived for whatever the use case (ex: magnets, screwing, springs).

These three images show how to assemble. Place the outer clip outside of the fabric ( a sweater in this case), then place the clamping plastics on the inside of the fabric. After that, use some small screws, in this case 2mm screws. The part is now clamped and the outer clip is ready to be used.
